About

Hi. My name is Travis. This is where I write.

About the Author

I’m an amateur classicist who currently works in web development. I’m most interested in the Greek language: I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Plato’s Crito. At time of writing I’m a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and I used to be on the seminary track.

You cannot find me on social media. You can, however, email me at travis@seikilos.net.

About the Site

You can expect me to write plenty about theology and the Greek New Testament here. From time to time I’ll also write about other topics that interest me, such as software development, history, or whatever book I happen to be reading at the time.

I built the site using Astro. It’s hosted on Netlify.

The site’s name — Seikilos — is drawn from the Seikilos epitaph, a Greek inscription from around 200-300 CE:

ὃσον ζῇς, φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλος σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἔστι τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.

Which, translated, reads:

While you live, shine
and have no cares at all.
Life exists only for a little while
and time demands its due.
